the christening

This was not an impulse buy. It cost me $60/year to get my own domain, and I mostly did it because there seems to be an imperative to have my own website to publish and promote my own work. And also because I read on Twitter about an academic who wanted to start her own website but realised her name (that she wanted to use as her domain) was already bought up by some people who then proceeded to charge her thousands to get it back. $5 per month to reserve my name on the Internet seemed like a small price to pay, so I did it.

I suppose this space will go on to be populated by my publications and other cultural/intellectual productions, so I’m looking forward to that. Bold of me to assume my work is in the least bit intellectual. Please try to enjoy yourselves here.
